Choosing a scalp micropigmentation studio involves more than looking at hairline photographs. You should also feel comfortable asking how the treatment space and equipment are prepared. At SMP BY G in Clyde North, Melbourne, we explain our working practices during your free consultation so you can make an informed decision.

Sterile, single-use needles

We use Bishop-brand needles supplied in sterile packaging. Packaging and expiry information are checked before use. A needle is used for one treatment session and is never kept for another client or reused at your next appointment. Used needles are placed in an appropriate sharps container.

If you have questions about the equipment, ask our SMP artist before treatment begins. You are welcome to discuss the products being used and how disposable items are handled.

Protective barriers on equipment

Equipment preparation includes protective sleeves and barrier film on relevant parts of the machine, cables and controls. These barriers are changed between clients. They help protect equipment during the procedure and form part of our cleaning routine; a cover does not replace cleaning and disinfection.

Preparing the treatment space

Our studio has two treatment rooms. Treatment chairs, beds and workstations are cleaned and disinfected between clients using suitable products. Our routine also includes the surrounding treatment environment and frequently touched surfaces.

We describe these as cleaning and infection-control practices. We do not promise a risk-free procedure or claim that an entire room is sterile. If you have a concern about your scalp or personal circumstances, raise it before deciding on treatment.

Products, planning and written aftercare

SMP BY G uses Bishop-brand pigments. Product choice, the proposed appearance and your session plan are discussed at consultation. You also receive written aftercare guidance for your own treatment, with the opportunity to ask questions before leaving.

Useful questions to bring include: Which items are single-use? How is the room prepared between appointments? What should I do if I am unsure about an aftercare instruction? How can I contact the studio after my session?
